“I studied with the Dublin school of horticulture for 2 years. All aspects of horticulture are covered thoroughly and the knowledge that the lecturers have is impeccable. I have set up my own garden maintenance company since finishing the course and it’s safe to say I wouldn’t have achieved this if it wasn’t for Carl and the rest of the team.“

“As I was working during the day I took the option to attend evening classes with DSH.
Thanks to the teachers’ deep knowledge the course materials were well explained (and students’ curious questions answered). There were students from different work backgrounds and nationalities in the class so the questions were from different points of view.
Practical hands on classes gave me more confidence. Since attending practical classes I try various propagation techniques which I probably would never do.
Thanks to commitment of all teachers to pass their knowledge and explaining relationship within plants, environment, plant health, design I find following and understanding gardening programmes and books much easier.“
Peter J.
“Thank you for all your tuition it has really helped me in my business, I learned a huge amount from you and the other lecturers.“

“I recall my year with Dublin School of Horticulture as a time of inspiration, discovery and detailed study. Particularly fond memories are the relaxed manner of the teachers, the breadth of their knowledge, their genuine love for plants and the wonderful trips to the RHS Gardens at Wisley.
I value the skills and learning on the course, and the sound basis it provided for my later work in horticulture.“
Romie C.
“Over the last four or five years I have really enjoyed the various classes and all the Garden trips I have gone on and this is down, in large measure, to all the hard work you and all your team have put in.
I think the real fruits of your endeavours will become apparent in the future when all the younger students (plus a few oldies) use all the knowledge they have gained with D S H and develop into really top class gardeners.”
Brian R.
“I have no hesitation in recommending attendance at any of the Dublin School of Horticulture courses.
As a former student I gained a great depth of knowledge due to the extensive course materials, lectures and class participation.
The practical nature of horticulture is brought alive in the classroom environment, enabling the student to understand the principles and their applications.”
John B.
“I’ve also learnt that the old adage ‘the more you learn the less you know’ definitely applies to gardening, so I look forward to learning more with you all soon.”
Valerie H.
“As a gardening enthusiast I was interested in the classes offered by the Dublin School of Horticulture, but with a busy career I was concerned that I might not have the time and staying power to complete the course.
In advance of enrolling I considered the options of distant learning or attending class lectures. I opted for the latter (being fortunate in living a short distance from the college would have swayed the decision, but the real benefit was only realised as the course progressed.)
More so than many other studies, horticulture requires a “hands on” learning approach. While you are overwhelmed by the breadth and depth of knowledge that the lecturers have amassed, you never feel intimated by asking the most basic questions.
It is this sharing of practical knowledge with fellow students and lecturers that makes every class interesting and worthwhile. Knowledge that you can apply immediately either as a professional or amateur is what makes class lectures practical and fun.
Committing the time to attending classes two evenings a week is demanding but the upside is that distant learning will never compensate for the extra dimension of sharing tips and knowledge so freely available.
I would therefore recommend any prospective student to go the extra mile by attending class lectures. A decision you will not regret.”
Michael O’R.
“Just to say a big thanks to you and all the DSH team for a superb weekend at Wisley it was both informative and inspirational.”
Deirdre H.
“At the Dublin School of Horticulture Carl and his team share their extensive plant knowledge, invaluable practical knowhow and personal lifelong experiences providing a clear lead in their delivery of the RHS curriculum. As a direct result of my horticultural training there I have pursued a number challenging horticultural roles including an inspiring work internship at RHS Garden, Wisley.”
